Purpose/Function
– To drivers seniors (60 years of age and over) from Kandiyohi
County to medical appointments, business appointments, grocery
shopping, etc.
Driver
is to pick up rider, drive rider to destination,
pick up and return unless specified as a one way only. Assist
rider in and out of the car when necessary and to the threshold
of destination and home when necessary. (This program is not
able to transport wheelchair bound persons.) |

Qualifications
and Desired Skills – Excellent driving
record required. Skill in driving in unusual weather conditions
which may occur while on a trip. Feeling comfortable around
elderly persons.
Time Commitment
– Local and long distance trips involved, your choice;
also days and times, your choice. Transportation is generally
Monday thru Friday 8:00 a.m. To 5:00 p.m.
Location –
Service is to be performed within Kandiyohi County, the Twin
Cities, Rochester and St. Cloud for medical appointments.
Volunteer Drivers
will receive reimbursement at $2.50 for a one-way or $5.00
for round trip 7 miles and under. Any one way trip over 7
miles and round trip over 15 miles is reimbursed at a per
mile rate. Contact the KAT Office for the current
mileage reimbursement rate as these rates are subject to change
based on board approval.
Training/Orientation
– Orientation is provided and mileage forms and envelopes
handed out. Explanation of this position and reimbursement,
etc. will be given to the volunteer driver. Quarterly meetings
are held and provide ongoing training.
